Blog Response #5

I hate the USI website. I think all of our so called "Tech" guys could do much better with keeping things updated and "fresh". I also think that they need to learn how to set up wireless networks but we won't get into that. I think that our overall template is boring, and there is too much empty space. On our home page of www.usi.edu, I think that our news feed and events should be more lively and strong. To let people know what is going on at USI and to get them interested. I think that the top banner could be a little more quick of an animation, and have more involvement on it. I don't like how the colors of the different pages are mixed and different on different pages. It goes from white, to blue, to black on some pages and it's annoying. Overall, I think that they could do a much better job with our site.

Blog Response #3

For my lawn art site, i was wanting to go with a more abstract type of website. I wanted to make it a little more "common sense" to use, more than having the straight up "click here" feeling. I wanted people to want to click my picture links, then if they did, they would be able to read more. My template was the same, I just moved the images around in different spots. Overall, I feel that now that I look at it, I could've done better, but I still like the way I set it up.

Assignment 4 Critiques

Aristeia88

The first thing I noticed about this was that your dimensions are all messed up and it looks bad. You need to set your dimensions smaller to fit on one page of the internet so we don't have to scroll down at all. Unless you fixed the links, and changed basically the whole template, it needs to all fit on the screen at once. I personally don't like all the white space that just leads of the page with no boarder. My eyes just kinda drift off the page. The left boarder line (the grass) looks good, but I'm not feeling the buttons. The heading lettering is a little too "artsy" and it needs to be simplified. I think the blue and green clash way too hard and I suggest changing it. I also think you need to simplify your image selection, and perhaps make them smaller.

For some reason I cannot see your site. The images won't load.

I like the template. The images are put together well. At the bottom of the pages, I think the links need to be spaced out evenly and have them have the rollover glow like you do on the index page. I think that you could have been more involved with your text, because times new roman is really boring. I can't tell whether or not I like the dark green box, but maybe if the text was different I would like it more. Other than some minor tweaks, it's good.

Critiques From Art Club Webpages

Andy

The good things I like about this is the simpleness of it. It brings out the professionalism that you might be trying to portray. The designs on the black rectangles could have a little more creativity or relate to the art club a little more. The bad things about this piece is the fact that it looks like a letterhead. I probably would have tried to be a little more diverse with my colors instead of only using three on both images. Overall, it's a nice, simple piece, but could use some work.

I really like the creativity of this one. It seems like something that would be on a website, so that is good. I like the symmetry that you have. It brings the attention to the text for me. The only thing that I want to say about this is I think that the main USI Art Club text could be made a little nicer, but other than that, nice piece.

I love the grunginess of this piece. I like the contrast between the blue and the black throughout the piece. The background is unique and creative. The two things that catch my "bad" eye is the part on the "T" and "B" in arT cluB. It sort of distracts me and I want to continue looking at it, haha. I think the text could be centered on your parchment looking media, just bring it down a little more. Other than that, nice piece.

Well. I seemed to have misplaced my jump-drive, so I cannot post an image of my work like I originally planned. (so if anyone happens to find a black Cruzer jump-drive, 4gb, please let me know)
But here is a scanned image.

My original purpose to this project was to put my own spin on the main text of the webpage, which was the text "Art Club" and the background of the entire page. I involved clipping masks in the Impact text, which turned out pretty nice. I think I may need to changed the stroke color on some of the letters to make it pop out from the background more, or mix up the drop shadow. When it was printed, it looked much darker than it did on the computer. I was working with RGB colors since I knew the purpose was to go into a webpage, so hopefully that makes a difference.

The background was just some smudging and effects that I've learned in Photoshop and I'm thinking about adding a little more to it, just to spice it up a little.

The picture involving the winner of the Art Show last year came out pretty nice with the boarder that I added around it, but the USI ART banner at the bottom didn't turned out like I planned, so I'm going to find something else to do with that.

Overall, I like my outcome other than a view tweaks here and there.
